Here you are able to pick from a list of characters, called clones. And that i exactly what they are, clones of creatures from the universe that are handed over to a controller, in this case you while you take part in the arena battles to please both the crowd, but also to help the sinister Synarch maintain his iron grip on the universe.
While there is a pretty good plotline its the gameplay that really makes Games of Glory something special, virtually ignoring the classic lanes style of game you can complete your objectives in a different way. Instead of rows of towers, there are 2 per base and a forcefield around the powercore. There are strategic points, that if you hold them will reduce their power and eventually break them.
Alongside these there are currency points where you can earn a steady stream of coins to spend in the shop inside of the game. This is where you buy the weapons and upgrades that your characters can use to become tougher during the battles and can give you the edge. Each clone has a set of starting stats and skills as as you level and buy items these improve.
What makes this game truly unique is the way that the characters compete. Each clone has both melee and ranged weapons and you can swap at any point. Some characters prefer one over the other and have the relevant skills, but you can go both ranged and melee with ease.
Aiming is completely up to you, there is not auto tracking or automatically hitting your opponents here, your skill has a direct impact on your success and where you aim is where you shoot. This adds a new component to the genre and blended with the clone skills it makes for unique battles all the time.
Games of Glory looks stunning, with top of the line graphics and a smooth style that is hard to ignore. The combat is fast and furious and as the game is new there are no real established teams so you can just go in and enjoy yourself. As you would expect there are also real money purchases you can use to unlock the characters, but other than that they do not give you a particular edge.
